Words of welcome

A WORD from L’ÎLE DU SAVOIR (2017 Edition)

L’île du savoir is a broad network that promotes science and technology among young people on the island of Montreal. Working with science professionals, this organization ensures the success of projects such as Fab Lab@l’École, Éclairs de Sciences, Science, on joue!, and, of course, Eurêka!, which now offers activities year round.

“Once again this year, Eureka! promises to put the public in touch with Montreal scientists. Everyone will be able to identify with the theme of Dreams, and to appropriate science at their own pace, according to their own interests,” said Yves Mauffette, President of L’île du savoir.

“When we imagined the Eureka! Festival a little over ten years ago, we also had a dream: to create an event that would bring people together, young and old, and feed their curiosity about science and technology. Over the years, that dream has become a reality, and since 2007, more than 660,000 visitors have lived the dream with us,” said Richard Deschamps, Committee Chair, Montréal, ville apprenante, de savoir et d’innovation and Vice-President, Concertation Montréal and L’île du savoir.

For its 11th edition, the Eureka! Festival is pleased to offer a program on the theme of Dreams, which is sure to satisfy the liveliest and most curious minds.

So let’s celebrate dreams! And let’s celebrate Montréal’s science, technology, innovation and creativity!

A WORD from the Montréal Science Centre (2017 edition)

The Eureka Festival! is a big celebration of science held at the Old Port of Montréal. Visitors to the 11th edition of this must-see event will enjoy dozens of free activities, original shows and explosive demonstrations sure to delight the entire family from June 9 to 11, 2017.

The success of the Eureka! Festival is the result of a close collaboration between the Montréal Science Center, L’île du savoir and the many partners who have worked together since 2007 to create a program recognized for its quality and diversity.

Thousands of young people flock to the Old Port each year for the Eureka! Festival, and the 2017 edition promises to be equally popular. Under the theme of “Dreams”, visitors will be able to discover the aspirations and accomplishments of our local scientists, participate in the popular Télé-Québec quiz show Génial!, take control of the Old Port fountains, or meet eco-adventurer Raphaël Donjam, who is also a solar aircraft pilot.

Come and immerse yourself in science!

Isabel Dansereau, Director of the Montréal Science Centre
