Sanitary measures

Dear festivalgoers,

For this 15th edition of the Eurêka! Festival, returning after more than two years of the pandemic, we are taking your safety seriously. Health measures have been relaxed in Quebec for several weeks now.

But, year after year, Eurêka! has attracted thousands of participants, and social distancing is not always possible. So we are encouraging our participants, scientific collaborators and volunteers to follow public health guidelines in order to protect themselves and others, including getting vaccinated and staying home if they feel sick.

In addition, the spaces and programming have been designed to avoid large gatherings. Most tents provide spacing, and, weather permitting, tent walls will be open to maximize air circulation.

Here is a brief reminder of the basic health measures to follow on the Festival site:

  • Whenever possible, keep a distance of 1 meter from other people.
  • If you feel the urge to cough or sneeze, it is recommended that you step away and do so into your elbow.
  • During interactive activities, we strongly recommend sanitizing your hands before touching anything. Antiseptic gel will be available to participants in several places on the site and materials will be cleaned frequently.
  • Despite the fact that masks are no longer compulsory in closed spaces, we recommended mask wearing when physical distancing is not possible and the site is busy.

Information on mask wearing from the public health website:

  • Starting May 14 at 00:01, it will no longer be compulsory to wear a mask in many closed or partially covered public spaces.
  • The decision to wear a mask in these places is at the discretion of each individual. Please respect those who wish to continue using this effective protection against COVID-19.

However, remember that people who have had COVID-19 must wear a mask during any social interaction for at least five days after isolating at home.

People living with someone who has COVID-19 also must wear a mask for 10 days.
