SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT
MISSION
Organizing the Eurêka! Festival, L’île du savoir works to bring science and technology closer to citizens, especially young people. Through its projects and partnerships, it helps make Montreal a hub of knowledge, creativity, and innovation, where scientific culture is accessible to everyone.
The Eurêka! Festival fully aligns with this mission and is socially committed on multiple levels.
Social Inclusion and Accessibility
The democratization of science and technology is at the heart of the Festival’s commitment. The event’s free admission allows families from all backgrounds to participate, including young people from underprivileged communities, notably through the priority hosting of school groups.
Territorial Acknowledgment
L’île du savoir recognizes that its activities take place on unceded Indigenous territories and acknowledges the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation as the guardians of the lands and waters where the Festival comes to life. This acknowledgment reflects a commitment to respecting the past, present, and future relationships between Indigenous peoples and the broader community.
Equity and Diversity
The Eurêka! Festival celebrates the diversity of paths and talents in science and technology. It highlights inspiring female role models and ensures inclusive representation, reflecting Montreal’s cultural and social diversity in both its programming and collaborations.
Parity and Governance
L’île du savoir places particular importance on parity and equity within its governing bodies. Its Board of Directors is gender-balanced, and the organization promotes inclusive and representative governance practices.
Responsible Management
In line with its mission, the Eurêka! Festival adopts responsible management practices, integrating social and environmental considerations into its programming, organizational choices, and partnerships.
